SCBWI Membership Categories

SCBWI has three categories of membership:

PAL (Published and Listed)

This is the highest-level professional designation. PAL members receive special benefits and privileges, in addition to those of full membership. Please read our PAL Policy to learn more.

Full Membership

This category is open to all whose books, articles, poems, stories, illustrations, photographs, films, television, or electronic media have been commercially published or produced, whether for adults or children. This applies to editors, agents, publishers, writers, and illustrators, including those who are professionally published as well as those who are self-published.

Associate Membership

This category is open to unpublished writers and illustrators of children’s literature or media, and those with a general enthusiasm for the field.
