Kari-Lynn Winters is a picture book author, educator, and performer. She enjoys being in the classroom in any capacity, as a presenter, a teacher, or as a student. She recently accepted a tenure-track position in the Faculty of Education at Brock University.

Kari-Lynn's first picture book, Jeffrey and Sloth (Orca Book Publishers, 2007) was a 2008 Blue Spruce award nominee and a 2008 BC Book Prize finalist. It won the 2009 Chocolate Lily Reader’s Choice Award and was named a 2006/2007 ABC’s of Education Best Book. Eleven of Kari-Lynn’s other picture books have been accepted for publication with such publishers as Gumboot Books, Tradewind Books, and Simply Read Books.

Kari-Lynn loves to be invited to make author visits and give keynote addresses. Her interactive sessions suggest practical ways that educators can use embodied, visual, musical, and imaginative forms of learning as ways to reconnect today’s youth with books, to bridge the gap between words and other modalities, and to inspire lifelong readers and writers.
