Rebecca Upjohn’s passion for stories and books began after the family T.V. blew up when she was three. Surrounded by books of all shape and form, and read to daily by her parents, Rebecca began to read on her own when she could no longer stand waiting for someone else to tell her what happened next. Writing stories was the logical next step. When her own kids were small, Rebecca rediscovered the joys of children's books and began to think seriously about writing for children. Now she feels like the luckiest person alive to be writing books for children--her favourite kind of books in the world!

This is the true story of Patrick's wish.

Lyanne knew that her big brother Patrick had a bleeding disorder called hemophilia, but he was full of life and fun, a friend as well as a brother. When she was old enough to understand, Patrick told her he also had a virus in his blood called HIV that would one day turn to a serious disease called AIDS. What Patrick showed her and everyone around him was his courage and that he had so much to give. He had a wish for the world, and while he was alive he worked hard to make it happen. His wish was that we should all learn about this disease, and that one day we would find a cure.
