Susan Mattinson received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in English: Creative Writing from the University
of New Brunswick in 2008 and her Masters of Divinity degree
(as well as a Diploma in Prison Ministry) from Acadia
Divinity College in 2011. She received a Diploma in Presbyterian
Denominational Studies from the Vancouver School of Theology
in 2012, and will soon head into ordained ministry in
the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
Although her writing time has been limited
by her university work in the last few years, Susan won
some awards in her pre-teen and teenage years. Her short
story "A Matter of Luck" (2006) was published
in the first issue of the now defunct magazine Reality
Complex, and her short story "Custom Appraisal"
appears in the anthology Beacons of Tomorrow: Second
Collection (2008).
In January 2012, Susan finally began a website
for a weekly comic strip that she’d had the idea
for a few years ago: "Pastor Shep" (www.pastorshep.ca).
She is enjoying the switch from writing to illustrating
very much, and would love to explore this new love in
illustrating for children.
